Observation 4

May 16, 2008

Time: 9:00

Temp: 45 F

Soil: dry

OK so i think i figured out why there is such a low biodiversity in my area. I believe it is because the area is so close to the highway, but animals need to come down to the creek for food and basic essentials. Many birds come to the bank of the river to eat worms and bugs that depend on the river. Mainly in the shadowed areas of the yard there are big clusters of bugs. Sometimes birds fly though the clusters with their mouths open. These clusters are made up of stone flies that form this cluster to all watch for predators, but from what i have seen it doesn't really work when I throw a baseball through it. The river as i said in the last observation is filled with neutirents for bugs to feed off of from glacier till.
