Today i noticed that the water level had risen higher and has started to move faster. I believe this is caused by snow and glacier melt off the mountains. Run off from the glaciers keeps the river flowing all year around. I can tell that the glacires are receding because in the summer the creek bed is layered with till. The water becomes merky and more and more insects are drawn to it. Erosion is accoring because of the amounts of sediment in the creek. Also in the past we have had to plant trees on the bank to prevent erosion of our backyard. Further up stream there is also a man made lock that blocks large amounts sediments that could build up in our backyards.
